Course Perspective

Going into the Google Data Analytics course, I had mixed feelings. I’ve never been a huge fan of data analytics, but I do love using data to back up my thoughts. I’ve always been a lone wolf, making my own decisions about what’s right or wrong, and I’ve relied on my intuition a lot. But this course showed me how data can take that intuition and turn it into something concrete.

First off, the course was incredibly thorough. It didn’t just skim the surface; it went deep into the daily tasks and responsibilities of a junior or associate data analyst. We learned how to clean and organize data for analysis, something that’s crucial if you want accurate results. Then came the hands-on stuff like spreadsheets, SQL, and R programming for analysis and calculations. The course also covered key tools for data visualization, like Tableau.

Why is this significant for me? Well, I’ve been in the digital marketing game for a while, and understanding what people need is what it’s all about. This course adds another layer to that understanding. Now I can use data to fine-tune my strategies, making them more effective and more aligned with what people actually want.

But it’s not just about the job or the money for me. I’ve lived in Malaysia and Singapore for years, and I have a soft spot for these places. As I get older, the urge to give back is getting stronger. My plan is to use these newfound skills to share knowledge freely in digital marketing, programming, and even in my hobbies like badminton and red wine appreciation.

Life’s too short to focus on making a quick buck. Time is better spent helping others and sharing what you know. And thanks to this course, I’ve got a whole new set of tools to do just that. I can’t wait to put it all into practice and see where this new path takes me.
