Course Perspective

Honestly, I never thought I’d find myself geeking out over Data Science. It always seemed like one of those overly technical fields that I’d have no interest in. But after wrapping up this course, I’ve got to say, I’m hooked.

Here’s the thing, I’ve been in digital marketing for a while, and knowing your audience is the name of the game. Data Science opens up a whole new world for me in that regard. Now I can collect and analyze data to really understand what people are looking for, and not just to make a quick buck. I can use this skill set to offer real value to people, particularly in Malaysia and Singapore where I’ve spent many years.

I’m at a point in my life where I want to give back. Whether it’s digital marketing, programming, or even my personal hobbies like badminton and red wine appreciation, I want to share my knowledge for free. Time’s ticking, and I’d rather use it to make a meaningful impact than to chase a few extra dollars.

So, what did I actually learn in this course? Well, I now understand what Data Science and Machine Learning are all about their applications, their use cases, and the kinds of tasks data scientists tackle. I also learned how to think like a data scientist, which is a game-changer.

The course also gave me hands on experience with tools I’d only heard about JupyterLab, R Studio, GitHub, and Watson Studio. I even learned how to write SQL queries and interact with Cloud databases using Python, right from a Jupyter notebook.

In summary, this course has equipped me with another layer of skills that I can use to enrich my work and help others. Data Science isn’t just about numbers and codes; it’s about using information wisely to create a better experience for everyone. And that’s a mission I can fully get behind.
