Course Perspective

Just finished the Developing Data Products course, and I’ve got to say, it’s been enlightening. I’ve always been the kind of person who likes to understand the nuts and bolts of things before even entering a classroom. Honestly, I think certificates are more of a formality; the real value lies in the skills you pick up.

The course started off with a bang, diving into creating basic apps and interactive graphics using GoogleVis. That was like opening Pandora’s box for me. The potential applications in my digital marketing field are endless.

Then we moved onto Leaflet, which lets you create interactive annotated maps. I never thought I’d be excited about maps, but here I am. The fact that you can annotate them opens up a whole new world for location-based marketing.

But one of the absolute highlights was learning how to use R Markdown to create a presentation that included data visualization. Now, that’s storytelling on a whole new level. And you know, in digital marketing, a good story can be the difference between a customer and a scroll-by.

The course rounded off with creating a data product geared for a mass audience. And let’s face it, in today’s world, data is king. Knowing how to present that data in an engaging way? That’s the real skill, especially for someone in digital marketing and programming like me.

And I can’t wait to share all of this. I love Malaysia and Singapore and have been living here for ages. Plus, getting older has made me realize it’s not just about me. I’ve got a family, a kid, and a whole lot of life experience. And what’s the point of learning if you can’t share that knowledge? Especially when you know exactly what people need.

Life’s too short to keep this all to myself. Whether it’s this new tech stuff, digital marketing strategies, or even my love for badminton and red wine, you can bet I’ll be sharing what I know. Because helping people, that’s what it’s all about for me.
