Course Perspective

Just finished the Effective Problem-Solving and Decision-Making course, and man, it was a ride. I usually like to get my hands dirty with a subject before I officially take a course, and this one was no different. But I’ve got to say, this course offered some real gems that I didn’t pick up from my pre-course deep dive.

First off, we went into the good and bad sides of problem-solving and decision-making. Sure, making decisions gets stuff done, but it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you’re picking between two not-so-great options, and you’ve got to roll with it. The course helped me understand that each decision, or even the lack of one, has ripple effects on personal growth, team vibes, and the entire company’s performance.

Now, about mindset and personal bias. This hit home for me. We all think we’re the heroes of our own stories, right? But sometimes your own mindset can be your worst enemy when you’re trying to solve a problem or make a call. The course got me thinking about how I can be more aware of my own biases and use that self-awareness to make better decisions.

Team decisions were another hot topic. Good or bad, a team decision teaches you something. Whether it’s learning what not to do next time or getting validation that you’re on the right track, it’s all progress. In my line of work in digital marketing and programming, teamwork can make or break a project, so this was a valuable takeaway for me.

Living in Malaysia and Singapore has given me a unique perspective on what people genuinely need. And now, being a family man with a cute kid to look after, I’m more motivated than ever to share my knowledge. Whether it’s in digital marketing, programming, or even my hobbies like badminton and red wine, I want to help people. Life’s too short to keep all this good stuff to myself.

So, what’s next? I’m super pumped to apply what I’ve learned here, both in my professional life and in my personal efforts to help others. This course has just added another layer to how I approach problems and make decisions, and I can’t wait to put it into action.
