Course Perspective

Just finished up the Influencing People course, and wow, what a ride! If you know me, you know I’m the type who likes to roll up my sleeves and get hands-on experience before even thinking about certification. Let’s be real, a certificate is more like a stamp of approval for the world to see, but the real juice is in the skills you pick up.

This course grabbed my interest because it dives deep into the psychology and tactics of influence, stuff that’s not common knowledge. And since I’m all about sharing what I learn, this was a no-brainer for me.

I’ve spent years in Malaysia and Singapore, places I adore. It’s not just about making money; it’s about sharing knowledge and helping people. Now that I have a family and an adorable kid, the desire to help others has only intensified.

So, what was in the course?

  1. Influence Tactics: The course kicked off with strategies to become more persuasive, whether you’re dealing with superiors, peers, or subordinates. In digital marketing, this can be a game-changer.
  2. Influence vs. Manipulation: This was an eye-opener. The course made a clear distinction between ethical influence and manipulation. Knowing the difference is crucial.
  3. Building Relationships: This part was about how to build and maintain quality relationships to maximize your informal power. It’s not just what you know, but also who you know that can help you influence others.
  4. The Power of Leadership: The final part focused on how real power isn’t just about a title; it’s about how effectively you can lead people. This ties back to the idea that to lead well, you need to be able to influence people in a positive way.

All in all, the Influencing People course was a revelation. It offered practical, ethical ways to be more persuasive and impactful, which I can’t wait to apply in my digital marketing career. And of course, I plan to share these insights because what’s the point of learning if you’re not going to share the wealth, right?
