Course Perspective

Just wrapped up the Inspiring and Motivating Individuals course, and I’ve got to say, it was a real eye-opener! I’m not the type to just jump into a course. I like to get a feel for the subject first. Certificates are a nice touch, but the real value is in the skills and knowledge you gain. If you’re in digital marketing or programming, you know it’s not just about the paper; it’s about what you can actually do.

I was really drawn to this course because it digs into the psychology behind motivation, something that not everyone understands but is crucial in my line of work. And since sharing knowledge is my jam, I couldn’t pass up the chance to add more to my toolkit.

I’ve been in Malaysia and Singapore for years, and it’s not just about business for me. It’s about genuinely helping people. Now that I have a family and a super cute kid, my drive to share knowledge and make a difference has only grown.

So, what did the course cover?

  1. Creating a Shared Vision: The first part was all about how to articulate a vision that your team can get behind. Effective communication is key here, and in my field of digital marketing, that’s gold.
  2. Understanding Human Behavior: This was fascinating. It delved into the fundamental needs that drive people and how understanding those can help you motivate your team. This is huge, not just in a work setting but in understanding customer behavior too.
  3. Setting Goals and Expectations: This section taught us how to set achievable yet challenging goals. Knowing what you’re aiming for and how to measure it can make a world of difference.
  4. Cultural Drivers of Performance: This part was particularly relevant to me, given my experience in different cultures. It explored how motivation varies across cultures and how to tailor your approach accordingly.
  5. Aligning Rewards with Behavior: The course wrapped up with a look at how organizations often get it wrong when it comes to rewards. Essentially, if you want certain behaviors, you need to make sure your rewards encourage them.

Overall, the Inspiring and Motivating Individuals course was packed with actionable insights. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned, especially in my digital marketing projects. And you bet I’m going to share these insights, because what’s the point of learning if you’re not going to share it, right?
